uRAD is a tiny shield for Raspberry Pi that transforms your board into a completely functional microwave radar. Operating in the free emission 24 GHz ISM frequency band, uRAD has four different operation modes (doppler and FMCW) that are ease programmed with Python.

uRAD is conceived as an evaluation platform to develop new and innovative applications or endowing intelligence to other common objects, supported by the power and ease of Raspberry Pi platform.
Thanks to uRAD, you will be able to develop and create new applications such as vibration sensors, distance and speed meters, vital signs controllers, movement sensors, etc. Furthermore, thanks to its ease of use, it is the perfect tool for schools and university for teaching and learning about radar technology.
uRAD is 3 sensors in 1. You will be able to measure, at the same time:
- Distance: from 0.45 to 100 m with an accuracy of ±0.04 m
- Velocity: up to 270 km/h with an accuracy of ±0.05 m/s
- Presence: moving target indicator mode that discards static targets.
Moreover, uRAD gives you additional information such as signal to noise ratio of detected targets and RAW data of the IF signals (in-phase and quadrature components) for advanced signal processing.
uRAD communicates with your Raspberry Pi by SPI protocol using the GPIO pins 9, 10, 11, 17 and 27. The Raspberry Pi board powers uRAD shield by the 5V pin. uRAD consumption is only 0.85 W.
uRAD platform provides full hardware, user manuals, tutorials, technical support and all the necessary software, including libraries in Python, examples of use and a graphical interface so that it is as easy as plug & play.
