Satellite for In-Orbit Sustainability: Pioneering the Future of Space
The Satellite for In-Orbit Sustainability (SIOS) project is driving innovation in the New Space sector, focusing on the development of sustainable technologies and strategies for satellite constellations. The initiative aims to ensure that satellites can operate safely and efficiently in orbit over the long term, promoting responsible growth and sustainability in the space ecosystem.
Project Duration
The project will run from December 2024 to December 2026, during which novel systems and methodologies will be designed, tested, and validated to enhance orbital sustainability.
Program and Funding
This project is part of the Espacial Technological Program – PTE 2024 (PTEG-20241010), funded by CDTI with support from the Ministry of Science and Innovation. It is co-financed by NextGenerationEU funds under the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, as established by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of 14 December 2020.
Consortium Partners
The project is carried out by a consortium of specialized partners, each bringing unique expertise in the aerospace sector:
- AVS Added Value Industrial Engineering Solutions SL: Specialists in engineering solutions and space systems.
- Anteral SL: Experts in advanced antennas and electronic systems for space applications.
- Arkadia Aerospace Propulsion & Transportation Systems SL: Experienced in propulsion technologies and aerospace systems.
This multidisciplinary team will develop innovative solutions that make space operations safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable, contributing to the future of responsible space exploration.
