World Space Week 2024: Space and Climate Change

This year the international organisation of the World Space Week has focused, from 4 to 10 October, on the issue of climate change and what satellites can do to combat it. And that is why we at Anteral want to highlight a satellite that focuses on it. It is the LUR-1 satellite, made entirely in the Basque Country, which has the following objectives:

-Capture high-definition images from an altitude of 515 km, especially focused on the Basque geography.
-Study the evolution of the coastline.
-To analyse pest control
-River control
-Managing crop distribution

In addition, another of the aspects that can be highlighted is that it has the MICE device, developed by AVS for the ESA, which is designed to facilitate the de-orbiting of the satellite at the end of its useful life, thus contributing to the reduction of space debris and promoting sustainability in space.
